Telephone Industires of Pakistan (TIP) was established in 1952 to meet the requirements of Telecommunication Switching Equipments of the country. It had an annual capicity of 7, 000 telephone sets and 7, 000 line units of F1 type switching system. Th eproduction capicity, later on, was increased in different phases according to the requirement of the country. This has now increased to 450, 000 telephone sets of various types and 500, 000 line units of most moderen and efficient German switching system (EWSD) . Tip is a huge complex capable to manufacture a large range of telecommunication and other diversified equipment. It is situated in Haripur-Hazara, a beautiful green and picturesque township of the Hazara Division in the N. W. F. P. , 70 Km north east of Islamabad.

The main functions of the company are to plan, produce, install, test and commission the telephone exchanges and supply telephone equipments. Beside telecommunication equipment, TIP is producing a variety of other products like Container Shells, Single Phase Energy Meters, Fire Alarm Equipment and Drop Wire to name a few. Tip is also an ISO-9001 / 2000 certified company.
